Christy found out she was pregnant the day after her fifteenth birthday.
She was scared! At first her boyfriend seemed happy, but a week later he told her he wanted her to get an abortion or he would dump her.
Christy went to her parents and they too wanted her to have an abortion threatening to kick her out if she didn’t. Feeling alone and confused, she gave in to the pressure and chose to have an abortion. Christy’s mother took her to the abortion clinic and it was never again discussed, her father told her to just forget it ever happened and not to tell anyone.
Even though Christy did what her boyfriend wanted, he soon stopped calling and was already involved in another relationship.
A month after the abortion, Christy was depressed and struggled to just get out of bed in the morning. Again, feeling very alone and overwhelmed by her feelings of sadness and guilt, she began to experience anger toward those she had trusted the most, her boyfriend and her parents.
Christy began losing weight, and desperate to feel better she began to use drugs and alcohol.
